As I was taking my shower this evening - one of my rituals is exfoliating the heels of my feet. So I thought why not share. There is a product which is very good by Sally Hansen "Prep your Pedi". I exfoliate my heels often while in the shower - I like my skin moist before applying any moisturizer and with the heels of our feet being the toughest, the shower is great for me. I scrub each heel and the side of my large toe that can become tough from wearing sandals all summer or maybe with age. After I towel off, but still somewhat moist, I personally use Neutrogena body oil the light seasame formula. I have used this for so many years I won't tell you :) I rub the oil into my legs after shaving, my heels and around my toes. Basically the seasame oil goes everywhere but especially around my feet and heels. And, I use a lot. The oil soaks in beautifully and I receive compliments due to the fresh smell. Another asset it dries quick and NOT oily.
Another topic due to my 23 year old daughter is keratosis pilaris - a common condition that stems from blocked hair follicles normally on the backs of your arms. I told my daughter to exfoliate lightly - WRONG!! This will onlyexacerbates the symtoms. Try using a lotion wth alpha- or beta hydroxy acids to dissolve the bumps.
Lastly, if you don't want to purchase Prep your Pedi which is $8 - I buy finger nail files by the package. I keep a few on my night stand, bathroom, my makeup bag and even the kitchen. During TV I will use a nail file on my heels, big toe to exfoliate and sometimes the elbows - inexpensive!! Use whatever moisturizer you have close by and keep those heels soft and beautiful all year long.
I have a lot tips for tomorrow - I've decided beauty tips/products will be my weekend theme.
